In Person or Post

Tick the boxes on your repeat medication slip, or, write a note stating what medications you require and drop it off at the surgery.  When the surgery is open or closed, you can drop it off in the post boxes at any of our surgery sites. Alternatively, you can post it to the surgery.
If you have difficulty obtaining your repeat prescription, for instance you may be housebound, please speak to our reception team.
For safety reasons, we do not accept prescription requests over the telephone.
Please allow up to 5 full working days for prescriptions to be processed and remember to take weekends and bank holidays into account.

Collecting your Prescription - 'Nominate' a Pharmacy

Most prescriptions for medicines and supplies are now sent electronically. When you order a prescription, you can have your prescription sent electronically to a pharmacy of your choice. This is called a nomination. You can choose a pharmacy that is convenient for you, such as near to where you live, work, or shop.
Once you nominate a pharmacy:
  • you will no longer need to collect paper prescriptions from your GP surgery
  • your nominated pharmacy will receive your prescriptions until you change or remove your nomination
  • any outstanding prescriptions you have ordered may still arrive at your current nominated pharmacy
You can nominate a high street pharmacy by using SystmOnline, Airmid app, or the NHS App
or logging into the NHS website using a web browser. A high street pharmacy is where you collect your medicines in person. They may also deliver to your home.
Online-only pharmacies - send your medicines in the post. To nominate an online-only pharmacy, you must register with that pharmacy through their website or contact them. It is not possible to nominate an online-only pharmacy using your online App.

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to make an appointment with a doctor, advanced clinical practitioner, or practice nurse at least once a year to review regular medications (notification should appear on your repeat slip).
You can request a medication review via the PATCHS service.  Please ensure that you request a medication review appointment to avoid unnecessary delays with your prescriptions.

Pharmacy services

Pharmacists are experts in medicines who can help you with minor health concerns.
   Find a pharmacy (www.nhs.uk)
As qualified healthcare professionals, they can offer clinical advice and over-the-counter medicines for a range of minor illnesses, such as coughs, colds, sore throats, tummy trouble and aches and pains.
If symptoms suggest it's something more serious, pharmacists have the right training to make sure you get the help you need. For example they will tell you if you need to see a GP, nurse or other healthcare professional.
Many pharmacies are open until late and at weekends. You do not need an appointment.
Most pharmacies have a private consultation room where you can discuss issues with pharmacy staff without being overheard.

Disposing of Old Medicines

If you have unwanted medicines, or medicines that have passed their expiry date, or left over after you have stopped taking them, please take them to your local pharmacy, who can dispose of them safely and free of charge.
You should never throw unused or expired medicines in the rubbish bin or never flush them down the toilet.
